:)Hi everybody I had my surgery in February 2005 and have just returned to full time work. I had excellent treatment at Addenbrooks Cambridge england with superb nursing care. i had an really non eventful recovery with fatigue being really the only issue. My tumor was luckily small but came out perfectly so i was told. I had been very anxious prior to surgery around the nausea and vomiting prospect and took to having hypnotherapy from my GP's wife which was very effective. i do beleive that a positive attitude coupled with a supportive network helps you recover. Now i am back to my usual self (mostly) and i am off to the carribean soon. Best Wishes Amanda

I just had a 4.5 cm acoustic neuroma removed in 6/06 with cranial surgery. I would like post op resources. Not that I was the most beautiful person but now I am left with facial palsy and my right eye only closes with a gold weight and now has been sutured partially shut. I have had a horrible time coping with this and the way that I am left to look in the eyes of a now scrutinizing society around me. I am trying my best to keep up my faith that in time this will all work out. I am however very blessed and grateful for being spared death which was approaching. Life is beautiful and I Cherish each and everyday now more than ever, however I was finally prepared and excited about re-entering the single world again after recovering emotionally from a breakup just prior to finding out I had this tumor that required immediate attention. My life depended on it. I once was proud and confident in the dating world but now realize it will take a great deal of courage to get out there again given the circumstances. I am in the process of researching an experienced reconstructive surgeon who's very knowledgeable with facial nerves. If you have any resources, thoughts or advice, I would be very grateful. I will travel if necessary for the right surgeon. I WANT MY SMILE BACK that's all I used to do. I was known for being very cheerful! Going to Mexico soon to have some fun in the sun, hopefully the trip will do me some good. Thank you kindly, Carol 8-)

so sorry you are feeling like this, i had my surgery july 2003 and i am only just getting over it, i did really well don't get me wrong, but tiredness and other illnesses keep popping up. my scar took a very long time to heel, and that really got me down, and of course my beautiful smile was gone. A nurse on intensive care came to see me and borrowed me her electrodes, which were little metal circles that i put on my chin, forehead and upper lip for upto 2 hours each day, sounds like a lot but it was worth it, i did regular exercise's each day and never give up.
i know its hard and i don't know whether your paralyses is permanant but i had no permanant damage to mine so tried really hard to make them strong again. My eye drives me mad sometimes and i trained that to close again, i did my exercises all the time and couldn't close my eye at all at first, i used to close it with my finger at bed time and it would slowly flick back open. I must admit i am like you, so thankful for my life and my health, but at first hated my look, people say they can't tell anymore but i don't think theres one picture i have had taken in the last 4 years that i like, but that is a small price to pay for my life back, no more dizziness, sickness, headaches, tinnitus its great,
keep your spirit up and don't quit, you have the rest of your life to get better, take it easy

Anyone here have Gamma Knife Surgery? Had mine in September 2008 and have had no problems. Next for me is another MRI in March to make sure there is no further growth and I'm waiting for my FIFTH hearing aid! My hearing aid specialist is amazing and is having a new digital transear hearing aid built for me with a volume control. This is brand new technology and is great when you are almost totally deaf on one side.
